Security check for Cursor apps

Cursor is an AI code editor. Apps built with it are deployed wherever you choose, such as Vercel, Netlify, Render or a VPS. Hosting depends on your setup, so headers and redirects are your responsibility.

Common issues to check before launch

  • Generated code that reads secrets on the client side
  • A committed .env or readable /.git directory on self-hosted servers
  • Permissive CORS (Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *) on authenticated APIs

Practical fixes

  • Review generated code for secret usage in client components
  • Add .env to .gitignore and block dotfiles on your web server
  • Restrict CORS to your own origins

What StackSiren does

Paste your Cursor app's public URL. StackSiren makes a few normal GET requests and checks for exposed keys, Supabase/Firebase config, security headers, HTTPS, exposed files and SEO basics. The full report includes fix prompts you can paste into Cursor or any AI coding tool.

These are common patterns, not claims about every Cursor app. Many apps have none of these issues.
